Today's guest hosts are Charlotte Hancock, Communications Director for Generation Progress, and Brent Cohen, Executive Director of Generation Progress and the VP of the Center for American Progress.
They are joined by a pair of guests as they discuss two different topics today.
The first topic is the bipartisan Equality Act, which was re-introduced in Congress last week. This crucial piece of legislation would ban discrimination against LGBTQ people in all aspects of life. The expert guest on this topic is the Law and Policy Director for Lamba Legal, Jenny Pizer. Her Twitter handle is @JennyPizer and the handle for Lamda Legal is @LamdaLegal.
The second topic is HIV and AIDS. HIV/AIDS is not the death-sentence it used to be for many HIV+ positive Americans, but it’s still ravaging the LGBTQ community, and Black Americans continue to be disproportionately impacted by HIV and AIDS – accounting for 43% of new HIV diagnoses, despite being only 13% of the population.
The expert guest on this topic is Raniyah Copeland, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Black AIDS Institute (BAI). Her Twitter handle is @Raniyah143 and the handle for the Black AIDS Institute (BAI) is @BlackAids.
Charlotte Hancock's Twitter handle is @CharlatAnne and Brent Cohen's handle is @BrentJCohen.
The website for "The Center for American Progress" is www.AmericanProgress.org and their Twitter Handle is @amprog.
