Fighting for Rights of Undocumented Americans and LGBTQ Students

In today's 'Gen-Progress Takeover,' live from the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C., Charlotte Hancock and Brent Cohen tackle the ongoing ICE raids throughout the country.

Charlotte is Communications Director for Generation Progress, and Brent is Executive Director of Generation Progress and the VP of the Center for American Progress.

For more analysis, they turned to Andrea Andrade, of 'North Texas Dream Team.'

Andrea provides essential information for anyone who may be unfamiliar with their rights, and potentially facing an ICE investigation.

In the show's second half, Charlotte and Brent welcome in a pair of in studio guests, to tackle the latest threats to LGBTQ students' rights, in response to a the apathetic leadership shown by Betsy DeVos, the Secretary of Education, to LGBTQ issues.

Both Frank J. Bewkes, Policy Analyst for LGBT Research and Communications Project at the Center for American Progress, and
Shabab Ahmed Mirza, Research Assistant for LGBT Research and Communications Project, also at the Center for American Progress, provide in-depth analysis on the results of a new CAP study.

The results show that “complaints related to sexual orientation or gender were nine times less likely to result in corrective action under the Trump administration.”
