In this hour of "Generation Progress Takeover," live from the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C., Charlotte Hancock and Brent Cohen dive deep into the growing demand for voter registration reform.
It is common knowledge young people on average represent one of the lowest voter turnout demographics in the United States.
To counterbalance this problem, states are beginning to implement same-day and automatic voter registration systems, to better assist young people in exercising their franchises.
In a lengthy report just released by Generation Progress, Charlotte and Brent are joined by three writers of the report on the status of voter pre-registration, same-day registration, and the differences state to state on voter registration deadlines and bureaucracies.
Authors Danielle Root, Voting Rights Manager at CAP, Brittney Souza, Organizing Associate of GP, and Anisha Singh, former Senior Organizing Director of GP, explain the nuances, difficulties, and unnecessary complications voters of all ages experience when registering to vote.
Here are the Twitter handles of today's hosts and guests (minus Danielle Root, as she does not use Twitter).
