The #MeToo movement and Women’s History Month
Thursday Mar 07, 2019
Thursday Mar 07, 2019
In this hour of 'Generation Progress Takeover,' co-hosts Charlotte Hancock and Brent Cohen are joined by Silvia Zenteno, Director Of Education And Training at 'It's On Us,' a campus sexual assault advocacy group, and Andrea Johnson, Senior Counsel for State Policy for the National Women’s Law Center.
With International Women's Day approaching this Friday, they dedicated this week's show to women's issues, and how the #MeToo movement has progressed after a year in the forefront of the cultural conversation.
Because issues facing women are considered intersectional, meaning it affects persons of color, age, and sexual identity differently, the accomplishments of the #MeToo movement could be considered nuanced and varied. Sexual assault on college campuses continues to be an unaddressed issue by the Trump administration, for example.
Both Silvia Zenteno and Andrea Johnson describe in detail the work yet to be done on this problem, and how young people can better address the problems facing 21st century women.
